Biography:
Domenico ‘Ico' Parisi (1916-1996) and Luisa Aiani Parisi (1913-1990) were a couple of Italian designers and architects active in post-war Italy.
Based in Como, they developed a varied output, ranging from interior architecture to furniture, always driven by a modernist and functional vision of design.
Trained as an architect, Ico Parisi first worked with Giuseppe Terragni, a leading figure in Italian rationalism, before founding their own studio, La Ruota, with Luisa in 1948.
Their furniture is characterised by clear lines, attention to materials (wood, brass, glass) and understated elegance.
They collaborated with several major Italian design houses, including Fratelli Reguitti, Cassina and Singer & Sons. Their work embodies the Italian modernist aesthetic of the 1950s and 60s, combining architectural rigour with an eye for detail.
