Biography:
Charles Hollis Jones is an American artist and furniture designer recognized by the Smithsonian Institution for his innovative use of acrylic and lucite. Born in Bloomington, Indiana in 1945, Jones moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 16 and founded CHJ Designs. At the time, acrylic and plastic were not commonly used in luxury furniture and art, but Jones saw its potential and began creating one-of-a-kind pieces for some of the city's most renowned showrooms, like Hudson-Rissman.
Jones has created more than 1,000 pieces of furniture and objects with an opulent American Hollywood aesthetic. His career has been fueled by bold clients such as Tennessee Williams, Sylvester Stallone, the Kardashians and collaborators including decorator John Elgin Woolf and architect John Lautner.
Jones resides in the Burbank area of Los Angeles and continues to design furniture and installations. He is active in numerous charities and often designs for various organizations, including a sculpture for the 2008 Golden Heart Award at the Beverly Hills Hotel...
