The Blue Wildebeest Gnu (from the Latin name "Connochaetes taurinus") is a species of bovid found in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania), Southern Africa (Botswana, Angola) and South Africa. It is a ruminant, large herbivore (1.30 m at the withers for an average of 200 kg), generally close to the "horned animals" and ruminants of the plains (antelopes, gazelles, zebras, etc.) living in vast herds in the grassy and wooded savannah where they make spectacular migrations.
