A rare desk by Bernard Dequet, produced by Protis Design (a model likely linked to a series such as ‘Errance’ 'Chantaco' or ‘Manon’).
The polished aluminium base consists of cast components with an organic (almost biomorphic) silhouette.
A central black lacquered wooden spacer, simply slotted between the two legs, a construction system found on several desks and console tables produced by Protis Design.
The four corners are finished with brass or bronze half-spheres, an extremely refined detail not often seen on other French designs from the 1980s.
A thick, free-form (double kidney-shaped) glass top, with an extremely fluid design, reminiscent of the biomorphic experiments of the 1985–1995 period. This type of top is much rarer on the market than rectangular or round models.

Bernard Dequet is a designer and furniture maker. He now works closely with his son, Baptiste Dequet, a trained cabinetmaker who has also become a designer. Together, they develop their designs in their own workshop under the name ‘Dequet Design’.
Unlike the major French designers whose work is mass-produced (Pierre Paulin, Roger Tallon, Olivier Mourgue, etc.), Bernard Dequet seems to favour small-batch production, bespoke pieces and special commissions.
His work is characterised by a very minimalist contemporary design, a constant pursuit of simplicity and balance in form, and the use of fine materials (primarily wood, sometimes combined with metal or other contemporary materials).
Their philosophy is to design objects that are at once functional, poetic and durable, with craftsmanship playing an essential role.
