Biography:
Beniamino Bonetto is an Italian designer (Venice) living in the furniture production district of Brianza in the early 1950s. He trained in the field but attended cabinetmaking and design schools.
In the early 1960s, he moved to Chieri to take over the family cabinetmaking business and transform it into a furniture showroom exhibiting the best Italian Design companies including Flexform, BB, Zanotta, Flos, Arflex, Cassina, Poltronova ... Bonetto will meet the architects Sergio Jaretti and Elio Luzi, the last great protagonists of the post-war Turin architectural scene. It was from their meeting that the Bonetto Collection was born in 1967.
The Collection will be chosen by the architect Giò Ponti to be exhibited at the 4th Eurodomus in Turin in 1972, it will be published in magazines such as Abitare, Domus and Interni. The Bonetto Collection will be exported to America (Hollywood), exhibited at the Ice Palace in Los Angeles. Mel Bourne, Woody Allen's production designer will select "La Cambusa" for the 1979 film Manhattan.
Having become a Design icon, the collection continues to amaze despite its 40 years. This is how the “Imaginary Collaboration” chair was born in homage to the famous Turin architects Carlo Mollino and Aldo Morbelli.
The Bonetto collection now furnishes, in permanent exhibition, the historic Ceriana Mayneri building in Turin, headquarters of the Circolo della Stampa and is open to the public.
The artistic director of the Bonetto company (N ° 1 in vicolo della Madonnetta, Chieri) is Beniamino Bonetto assisted by his sons Federica, Matteo and Giuseppe.
